Bakewell tart cocktail amaretto6/17/2023 With its deep, dark colour and unique flavour, the Bakewell Fizz is a real treat that should be savoured. Using Disaronno amaretto, maraschino liqueur and prosecco, this cocktail replicates the iconic cherry and almond taste of the Bakewell Tart. The Bakewell Fizz cocktail is a sweet indulgence that’s ideal for the winter months when curled up by the fire or for festive parties with friends and family. Mixing gin, lemon juice and simple syrup topped with prosecco and garnished with a lemon twist, this classy cocktail is simple to make but will impress any guests. As a product of experimentation in the 19th century, the French 75 has been a popular cocktail for decades and is a permanent fixture in cocktail bars around the world. The French 75 is a sophisticated cocktail that’s ideal for brunches or more formal soirées. To make the best Prosecco Margarita, first rim the glass with salt, then mix the tequila, lime juice, triple sec and syrup into the glass and top it up with prosecco. Perfect for any special event, this twist on the classic Margarita cocktail is certainly a crowd-pleaser. Prosecco and tequila, although an unlikely pairing, are a match made in heaven. During the summer months, you can also create frozen bellinis by combining frozen peaches, sugar and prosecco in a blender. While a classic Bellini features prosecco and peach puree, there are many flavour variations such as raspberry, mango, elderflower, watermelon, passion fruit and more to experience. Ultra-refreshing and acceptable to drink at breakfast or brunch, a Bellini is a well-loved cocktail around the world. This cocktail was actually created by accident by a bartender who added sparkling wine to a Negroni instead of gin, hence the name, ‘sbagliato’, which translated to English means ‘mistake’. With a name like Tart, and with some of the imagery used on the walls and menus, I think a slightly more sordid atmosphere would be fitting – though perhaps their clientele of late-20s women would disagree with me.If you enjoy the bittersweet, punchy flavours of the Negroni cocktail, then you’re sure to love the Negroni Sbagliato too, which swaps the gin for prosecco for a light twist that softens the bitterness. It’s all very pretty and nice, too nice perhaps. The interior starts off light and airy with chandeliers and pale walls, then increases the colour and pattern until you reach a chocolate-coloured den at the rear (booked for a private function). In the name of adventure alone, this had to be tested out. Not just because it looked inviting or because I’d met the owner last year and promised to come along but because the menu featured drinks not too far removed from the list above. I’m damned if I know what to do with that but it reminded me that we were a stone’s throw from a bar that I’d been meaning to test out. This surprising, if not nauseating, list followed: I’d been making enquiries about favourite drink ingredients and flavours of my drinking partner to concoct something new for her upcoming birthday picnic. Tonight however proved to be a fairly mellow end of the week celebration, and conversation and cocktails were happily mingled. Cocktails are the companion of good conversation and good company – on a cranked up Friday night in London the former is normally impossible. Friday nights are not about cocktail drinking in my view.
